Our mission

WHO/WHAT IS RSVP?

The mission of Teacher’s Aid for Student Knowledge (TASK) is to financially support education within St. Johns County, Florida by making financial grants to various education specific programs. The primary implementation of this mission is the financial support of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

RSVP is a program offered through The Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) under the umbrella of the Senior Corps. Other programs operated by CNCS you may be familiar with include AmeriCorps, Foster Grandparents, etc.  Each local charter of RSVP has a program sponsor. In the case of St. Johns County, the program sponsor is The St. Johns County School District.

RSVP’s main aim here in St. Johns County is to recruit and coordinate retirees and seniors to volunteer in the classrooms of Title 1 schools throughout the area. St. Johns County has had the RSVP program since 1985.

For more information on volunteering as part of RSVP, please visit the website for our local chapter of RSVP. www.rsvpstjohns.com

task is essential...

TASK and its Board are essential to the short- and long-term success of the RSVP program here in St. Johns County. We enjoy an excellent working relationship that has lasted for decades.

— Cheryl Freeman, RSVP Director

HOW DO WE RAISE MONEY?

TASK raises money to support its cause in three different ways:

1) Our Event - Chocolate & Beyond

This annual event, having taken place every year for the last 25+ years, draws hundreds of supporters from around the county to enjoy unlimited samples from some of the finest culinary artisans in the area. The event includes a silent auction, an awards ceremony, numerous opportunities to interact with members of our community, and TASK’s Board of Directors.

2) Our Sponsorship Partners

We couldn’t do half of what we do without the participation of our Sponsors. Their generous donations allow us to put on a first-class event every year. We do our best to recognize them in every way possible throughout the year and encourage our supporters to support them as well. If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact us today!

3) Individual Donations

A theatre teacher once said, “There is no small part.” We agree! Donations from individual community members are made throughout the year. Legacy donations can be accepted as well. Every donation is tax deductible and goes directly to the support and enrichment of education in St. Johns County.
